NORTH BERGEN, NJ (Monday, January 15, 2018) – Governor Chris Christie today signed legislation that, in New Jersey, abolishes the Waterfront Commission of New York Harbor. Members of the New Jersey Senate and Assembly are lobbying their New York counterparts to do the same. Gov. Christie signed the near unanimous measure on his final day in office.
“The ILA rank and file members are grateful to Gov. Chris Christie for supporting working men and women in New Jersey as well as the shipping community and signing this Senate and Assembly bill into law,” said ILA President Harold Daggett.
New Jersey State Senate President Stephen Sweeney has said the Waterfront Commission became “outdated and counterproductive.”
