Harris County Commissioners Court Reappoints Clyde Fitzgerald and Confirms Term of John D. Kennedy, City of Pasadena Reappoints Roy Mease
Two Port Commissioners of the Port of Houston Authority were reappointed today. Clyde Fitzgerald was reappointed by Harris County Commissioners Court, and Roy Mease was reappointed by the City of Pasadena. Port Commissioners serve two-year terms without pay.
Harris County Commissioners Court also acted to extend Port Commissioner John D. Kennedy’s current term to February 1, 2016.
Longtime labor leader Fitzgerald, who started his career at age 16 working on the wharves of the Houston Ship Channel, was originally appointed on June 25, 2013 by Commissioners Court. Fitzgerald is a 50-year veteran of the Houston waterfront and serves as president of the South Atlantic & Gulf Coast District of the International Longshoremen’s Association. He joined his father on the docks in 1959 and later served as President of ILA Local 28 for 20 years. Fitzgerald also serves as vice president of the International ILA organization and is a member of its Executive Council. He and his wife Vickie have been married for more than 50 years and are the parents of three adult children. They have six grandchildren. Fitzgerald chairs the Pension and Benefits Committee and serves on the Audit Committee and Dredge Task Force.
Mease, who has a private law practice in Pasadena, was originally appointed Sept. 24, 2013.
A member of the State Bar of Texas, Mease received his Doctorate of Jurisprudence degree from the South Texas College of Law. He serves as chairman of the Pasadena Second Century Corporation, which is the city’s economic development entity. Mease served as a member of the Pasadena City Council for eight years. He also served as president of the Pasadena Livestock Show & Rodeo and has been a director of that organization for 46 years. Mease attended the University of Texas at Austin. He and his wife Sue have been married for more than 50 years. Mease serves on the Community Relations Committee and Governance Committee.
