ILA and President Harold Daggett Announce Endorsement of Tammy Murphy for U.S. Senate; New Jersey State Primary Election is June 4, 2024
NORTH BERGEN, NJ – (February 19, 2024) The International Longshoremen’s Association today endorsed Tammy Murphy for U.S. Senate in the State of New Jersey, according to an announcement by the union’s president, Harold J. Daggett.
“The International Longshoremen’s Association is proud to announce its support for ‘Tammy Murphy for U.S. Senate’ to represent the State of New Jersey,” said the ILA Leader in a letter to Ms. Murphy. “We believe you are the best candidate to lead the Garden State in Washington as one of its two U.S. Senators and will encourage the tens of thousands of ILA members and their families residing in New Jersey to support you in the June 4th, 2024 Democratic Party primary.”
Currently the First Lady of New Jersey as the wife of Governor Phil Murphy, Tammy Murphy earned the endorsement of the ILA and President Harold Daggett because of her support of working men and women in the Garden State and for providing a voice for the underrepresented citizens of New Jersey.
“I will encourage all our New Jersey ILA members to support Tammy Murphy for U.S. Senate and urge them get their families and friends to help you win this U.S. Senate seat,” said ILA President Daggett. “The ILA is proud to be part of and support the campaign of Tammy Murphy for U.S. Senate.”

You launched “Nurture NJ Maternal and Infant Health” program to root out institutional racism that Black and Brown women face in pregnancy and childbirth to reduce preventable deaths. Tammy Murphy was a key figure in getting New Jersey to expand Medicaid coverage for women a full year after childbirth. The ILA also applauds Tammy Murphy’s commitment to education for New Jersey’s children.
