International Longshoremen’s Association (ILA) and United States Maritime Alliance (USMX) Team Up To Raise $150,000 For St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital

NORTH BERGEN, NJ (May 22, 2025) The International Longshoremen’s Association and United States Maritime Alliance joined forces this past Monday, May 19, 2025, and led the charge to raise $150,000 for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The 32nd Annual USMX-ILA Children’s Fund Charity Golf Tournament took place earlier this week, under sunny skies where 285 golfers packed the Banks and Palmer Courses at Forsgate Country Club in Monroe Township, New Jersey.

Fellowship and fun became the hallmark of the day that began with golf in the late morning, followed later in the day by a dinner and awards reception where the leaders of the ILA and USMX presented a $150,000 oversized check to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. St. Jude, one of the world’s most respected charities, provides care and treatment for children with cancer and other catastrophic diseases at no charge to the young patient’s family.

“We are proud to that the ILA and USMX devotes its Children’s Fund Charity to support one of the greatest and most caring institutions – St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital – where families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food, so they can focus on helping their child live,” said Harold J. Daggett, International ILA President and Paul DeMaria, USMX CEO and Chairman noted at the Monday’s dinner reception. “The healing hands of St. Jude extend to all parts of the globe, offering customized care for some of the world’s sickest children.”

Cynthia Gardner, Area Executive Director at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, accepted the check from the ILA and USMX. She was joined at the USMX-ILA Children’s Fund event by her St. Jude colleagues Anais Vu and Timothy Bayly.

“St. Jude thanks the ILA and USMX for this generous gift and we are happy to now be partners this wonderful fund-raising effort for a second year,” said Ms. Gardner.

“The ILA and USMX noted that St. Jude is consistently ranked as one of the best places to donate by Charity Navigator, America’s largest independent charity evaluator. The ILA and USMX added that St. Jude shares the breakthroughs it makes to help doctors and researchers at local hospitals and cancer centers around the world improve the quality of treatment and care for even more children.

For more than three decades, the ILA and USMX have raised over $8 million for various children’s charities.
