NORTH BERGEN, NJ – (April 17, 2018) The International Longshoremen’s Association will hold full Master Contract Wage Scale Committee Meetings, beginning on Tuesday, June 5, 2018 and continuing through Thursday, June 7 at Delray Beach Marriott Hotel, 10 North Ocean Boulevard, Delray Beach, Florida.
The June negotiations between the ILA and representatives of United States Maritime Association (USMX) follow the successful meetings in late March where the two sides met with smaller two-member committees to explore terms for a new agreement to replace the current Master Contract that expires on September 30, 2018, according to ILA President Harold Daggett.
“We will bring our full Wage Scale delegates together with management to ultimately finalize agreement on a new six-year contract that will bring stability and growth to our industry to 2024,” President Daggett said.
ILA President Daggett and David F. Adam, chairman of United States Maritime Alliance, had stated after the March meetings that the two sides were able to accelerate Master Contract Bargaining with the smaller 20-member committees from the ILA and USMX. In June, the full ILA Wage Scale Committee will meet.
ILA President Daggett is confident ILA members will be protected against loss of jobs from fully and semi-automated terminals and the new package will include substantial increases and improvements in wages and other benefits.
Each ILA Wage Scale committee delegate must make his/her own hotel reservation and is responsible for all travel and related expenses. A daily rate of $169.00 plus tax has been secured for ILA Wage Scale Committee delegates for arrival on Monday, June 4 and departure on Friday, June 8, 2018. Reservations must be made by Tuesday, May 8, 2018 to secure this rate.
