Stephen Cotton, General Secretary of the International Transport Workers’ Federation was awarded the 2014 Admiral of the Ocean Sea trophy at a dinner in Manhattan. Brother Cotton and the ITF were instrumental in recruiting worldwide labor support for the International Longshoremen’s Association during our negotiations more than two years ago. Along with similar support from the International Dockers’ Council, this strong International Solidarity strengthened the ILA. At Friday’s AOTOS Dinner, Stephen Cotton was one of three recipients to be named Admiral of the Ocean Sea along with Joseph J. Cox, President and CEO of Chamber of Shipping of America and Frederick J Harris, President of General Dynamics NASSCO and Bath Iron Works. A number of ILA officers and members attended the AOTOS dinner to show support for Stephen Cotton, led by John D. Baker, International Assistant General Organizer who is also an officer with the ITF and Peter Clark, the ILA’s ITF representative.
