Pledges Solidarity With African Nation’s Dockers
NORTH BERGEN, NJ (December 10, 2020) – More than 100 Somali Dockers are set to affiliate with the world-wide International Dockers’ Council and ILA President Harold J. Daggett sent a congratulatory message to the leaders of the Somali Public Trade Unions (SPTU).
“We are joined by the work we perform; by our duty to protect the lives and livelihoods of our members and now by our mutual affiliation with the International Dockers Council,” said President Daggett to SPTU President and Secretary Mohamed Nour and Vice President Abdi Hassan. “WE WILL NEVER WALK ALONE AGAIN.”ILA President Daggett noted that Dennis A. Daggett, the ILA’s Executive Vice President, also serves as General Coordinator of the IDC and said the SPTU could be certain of the full support of the ILA.
