ILA Members To Join in Four-Day Labor Walks For “Steve Sweeney For New Jersey Governor” Beginning This Saturday In Bloomfield, NJ In Final Get Out the Vote Push Before Tuesday’s Primary

NORTH BERGEN, NJ (June 4, 2025) With less than a week to go before the New Jersey Democratic Gubernatorial Primary on Tuesday, June 10th, 2025, hundreds of ILA New Jersey members, families and friends will participate in one of eight statewide labor walks to generate support and “Get Out the Vote” for the ILA’s endorsed candidate – Steve Sweeney. Beginning Saturday morning, June 7 at 9 am, ILA members will join hundreds of other union members at Ironworkers Local 11, 1500 Broad Street, Bloomfield, New Jersey, the starting point for the Steve Sweeney Labor Walks that will also be staged on Sunday, June 8; Monday, June 9; and Primary Tuesday, June 10, 2025.

International President Harold J. Daggett spoke with Steve Sweeney over the weekend, and the former New Jersey State Senate President and 2025 Gubernatorial Candidate told the ILA leader that he was encouraged by the massive support among labor unions for his campaign and confident of victory in Tuesday’s Democratic Primary.

“The ILA is proud to endorse Steve Sweeney for New Jersey Governor,” said ILA President Daggett. “In Steve Sweeney, we are getting a fellow union brother and an outstanding public servant who will work hard for New Jersey ILA members and their families.”

A union Ironworker by trade, Steve Sweeney has blended a stellar career as an Ironworker and labor officer with elected positions in the New Jersey State Senate. He and ILA President Daggett have enjoyed a long friendship, with the ILA President saying Steve Sweeney is the only candidate for New Jersey Governor who cares about working families.

ILA President Daggett has reminded his New Jersey members that primary elections traditionally garner small voter participation, so a strong showing by ILA members and their families “will guarantee a victory for Steve Sweeney and the ILA.”

That is why ILA members will offer strong support for this weekend’s labor walk in Bloomfield, NJ. ILA members planning on participating in Labor Walks on Saturday-Tuesday should contact Jesse Miller at 614-208-2216.
