ACD, ILA, AFL-CIO to Hold 35th Quadrennial Convention July 14-16, 2015 in Puerto Rico

Atlantic Coast District, International Longshoremen’s Association, AFL-CIO To Hold Its 35th Quadrennial Convention July 14-16, 2015 in San Juan, Puerto Rico

NORTH BERGEN, NJ – (June 30, 2015) The Atlantic Coast District (ACD), International Longshoremen’s Association, AFL-CIO will be holding its 35th Quadrennial Convention at the Caribe Hilton Hotel, 1 San Geronimo Street, San Juan, Puerto Rico from Tuesday, July 14 to Thursday, July 16th. Hundreds of delegates representing port areas in the ACD from Maine to Virginia, Great Lakes region, major U.S. rivers; Eastern Canada and Puerto Rico will be in attendance at the ACD Convention, according to District President Dennis A. Daggett.

“We anticipate a powerful convention with a full agenda to keep our delegates busy for three days,” ACD President Daggett said “Our convention comes at a critical juncture for our union and the American Labor Movement. We have numerous issues to review and discuss, new policies to enact and the election of our ACD Executive Board.

“Our convention delegates will hear from an outstanding line-up of speakers representing labor organizations, our employer groups and lawmakers.” Daggett continued. “We will begin to prepare our Atlantic Coast District for the challenges of our next four years.”

The Atlantic Coast Convention comes a week before the 54th Quadrennial Convention of the International Longshoremen’s Association, AFL-CIO that also meets at the Caribe Hilton. Most ACD elected delegates also serve as International delegates.

Among the scheduled speakers at the Atlantic Coast District convention include Harold J. Daggett, ILA International President; Betty Sutton, Administrator, St. Lawrence Seaway Authority; Jordi Aragunde, General Secretary, International Dockworkers’ Council and New Jersey State Senator Ray Lesniak.
