BREAKING NEWS FROM NJTODAY.NET: New Jersey Senator Ray Lesniak Calls for Federal Investigation Into Waterfront Commission Following New York Post Article Charging Top Commission Ronald Goldstock With Conflict of Interest

Senator Raymond Lesniak today sent a letter to New Jersey Attorney General Cristopher Porrino, U.S. Attorney Paul Fishman and U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara asking that they investigate the apparent conflict of interest on the part of a member of the Waterfront Commission of New York and New Jersey.
Lesniak acted after learning that Ronald Goldstock, a member of the commission responsible for overseeing waterfront activities, took a paid position with a company after it was awarded a contract by the commission.
Lesniak also called for an investigation of reports that the same firm, Pugh Jones & Johnson, was recently approved as a monitor for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, raising further concerns about conflicts and self-dealing.
The New York Post reported that “Goldstock presided over a panel that chose the Chicago-based Pugh, Jones & Johnson law firm as one of three possible monitors in 2013.”
Pugh won the contract and then, “A year later, Goldstock was awarded a gig at Pugh while retaining his $44,370-a-year commission post,” the Post story said.
