ILA-USMX Children’s Fund Announces New Fundraising Effort for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital for 2024
Respected Charity Provides Care and Treatment For Children with Cancer and Other Catastrophic Diseases

NORTH BERGEN, NJ – (Jan. 16, 2024) – The International Longshoremen’s Association (ILA) and United States Maritime Alliance (USMX) announced it will begin a new partnership in 2024 with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital® and will begin raising funds for the world renowned and respected institution founded by the late entertainer, Danny Thomas more than 60 years ago.

“We are proud to announce that the ILA and USMX will use its Children’s Fund Charity to support one of the greatest and most caring institutions – St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital – where families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food, so they can focus on helping their child live,” the ILA and USMX said in a joint statement. “The healing hands of St. Jude extend to all parts of the globe, offering customized care for some of the world’s sickest children.”

The ILA and USMX noted that St. Jude is consistently ranked as one of the best places to donate by Charity Navigator, America’s largest independent charity evaluator. The ILA and USMX added that St. Jude shares the breakthroughs it makes to help doctors and researchers at local hospitals and cancer centers around the world improve the quality of treatment and care for even more children.

The first major fund-raising effort by the ILA and USMX will be the annual Children’s Fund Golf Outing, which is scheduled for May 20, 2024, at Forsgate Country Club in Monroe Township, New Jersey.

For the past three decades, the ILA and USMX raised over $8 million for the Hole in the Wall Gang Camp, which also is devoted to caring for children with cancer and other life-threatening illnesses.

ILA President Harold Daggett, like St. Jude founder Danny Thomas, has maintained a life-long devotion to Saint Jude Thaddeus, the patron saint of hopeless causes, and is grateful the USMX-ILA Children’s Fund will now be raising funds for St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.

“I thank USMX for joining with the ILA to continue to help raise funds for children with cancer and that we will now be dedicating our efforts to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital,” said President Daggett.
