International Longshoremen’s Association and Atlantic Coast District, ILA Announce Location and Dates For 2023 Quadrennial Conventions; Union Returns to Diplomat Hotel in Hollywood, Florida
NORTH BERGEN, NJ (December 15, 2022) – The International Longshoremen’s Association will be returning to the Diplomat Resort Hotel in Hollywood, Florida for the Union’s Fifty-Sixth Quadrennial Convention in July 2023 with sessions held Monday, July 24, 2023, through Thursday, July 27, 2023. Convention delegates and guests will register on Saturday and Sunday, July 22 and 23, 2023.
“We are happy to be returning to South Florida for our 56th Quadrennial Convention,” said ILA President Harold J. Daggett, who in addition to announcing convention dates, also formally said earlier this week that he plans to run for re-election for a fourth term as International President. Elections for all International Executive Council offices will be held on the final day of the International Convention, July 27, 2023.
“The Diplomat Hotel is an ideal location for our ILA Conventions, with ample meeting space and comfortable room accommodations, and is situated between our two important ILA port areas of Port Everglades, Florida and Miami, Florida,” said President Daggett. “We look forward to energetic and productive convention sessions, with great speakers, and provide a pleasant atmosphere throughout the days and nights of the convention for ILA delegates and guests.
The ILA and ACD held its last convention at the Diplomat Resort Hotel, in Hollywood, Florida as well as its 2007 and 2011 Conventions.
The official International Convention Call will be sent to all ILA locals early in 2023.
Prior to the International convention, the Atlantic Coast District (ACD) will be holding its Thirty-seventh Quadrennial Convention, also at the Diplomat Resort Hotel. Michael J. Vigneron, Atlantic Coast District President, announced the scheduled dates of his convention, with ACD Convention registration taking place Sunday, July 16, 2023, and Monday, July 17, 2023, with ACD Convention sessions held Tuesday, July 18, 2023, through Thursday, July 20, 2023.
