Chaotic Day In Washington on Wednesday Overshadowed Great Victory For ILA, Georgia and America

Democrats Won Both Georgia Senate Runoff Races With Big Push From ILA Members

NORTH BERGEN, NJ – (January 7, 2021) The chaos that engulfed Washington, D.C. on Wednesday, January 6th after a mob of loyalists urged on by President Donald Trump stormed and occupied the Capitol building, delaying, but not preventing the certifying of Joseph R. Biden and Kamala Harris as our nation’s next President and Vice President, overshadowed a remarkable victory when the Rev. Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff won their Senate runoff races in Georgia allowing Democrats to gain control of the Senate.

Days before their duel victory, the Rev. Raphael Warnock stood with hundreds of ILA longshore workers outside the ILA union hall of Local 1414, in Savannah Georgia and pledged his support to fight for ILA members and their families.

“This is a great win for the ILA in Savannah and for all working families across America,” said Willie J. Seymore, ILA International Vice President from the Port of Savannah and South Atlantic and Gulf Coast District Executive Vice President, who met Senator-elect Warnock at the rally at ILA Local 1414 headquarters, along with their local president Jackie Robinson and Savannah Mayor Van Johnson.

“Rev. Warnock is a native son of Savannah,” said a proud Brother Seymore. “ILA members, their families and neighbors put an all-out effort to get out the vote and get two great Democrats elected to the Senate.”
